Géraldine Harckman
Utterly lost... This was the feeling I got during an exercise in which one had to walk 50 steps on the spot with our eyes closed. The harder you try, the more one fails. This was my first « a ha » experience of Alexander Technique (AT).
I began by working with Athanase Vettas on a long-term basis. Over time, I sensed that AT was somehow connected with my profession as an art teacher. In my painting classes, it is essential to learn people how to step away from habits and well-engrained gestures. Gradually I became convinced of how the AT offers tools in our relationship with novelty. In parallel to alleviating back pain and other physical discomforts, I sensed how the AT is a fundamental enabler to achieve freedom and flexibility at a deeper and more meaningful level. To quote Alexander: “You can't do something you don't know, if you keep doing what you do know”.
Helping you understand how your body can move away from old patterns and discover new pathways is my objective as an AT teacher.
Language: French. Basic level in English and Dutch.
