Claire Destrée

After obtaining an MA in Art History in 1987, Claire Destrée initially worked in the dance sector.

It was through dance that she discovered and became passionate about the Alexander Technique as a way of living and being (later she regularly taught the Alexander Technique to dancers).

She trained, to become an Alexander teacher, with Elisabeth Langford and Eliane Lefebvre and graduated in 1997.

In 2003, she became Elizabeth Langford's principal assistant at her Alexander Technique training school. Since then, in addition to giving individual lessons, she has continued to participate in the training of future teachers of the Technique.

As a mother of two children, she is interested in the contribution of the Alexander Technique to childbirth and mothering, and more recently, in the links between the Alexander Technique and Ayurveda: two preventive approaches to health that consider the person in both their physical and mental dimensions and invite a process of liberation from harmful habits and conditioning.

She continues to learn, teaching of course, and tirelessly furthering her training in London, mainly with teachers from the Constructive Teaching Centre created by Walter Carrington.

Claire teaches in English and French in Brussels (Etterbeek).
